That same year shoulder injuries ended his competitive career. However, this began his 32-year coaching career. He has served as Head Coach at five different high schools. While coaching at Capistrano Valley HS in 1987 and 1988, those teams placed 2nd and 11th in the State.

He was voted Coach of the Year for the South Coast League three times. Jeff started the wrestling program at Calvary Chapel HS in Santa Ana, hiring John Azevedo as Head Coach. While coaching there, they won back-to-back State High School Championships in 1993 and 1994. His Bear River HS team was 13th at State in 1999. At Clovis West, his teams were 6th and 7th at the State Championships in 2003 and 2004. His dual match record was 385-103, including a 57-match win streak at Capo Valley.

He has coached 65 CIF State qualifiers, 39 CIF State Place-winners, 17 CIF State Finalists, 10 State Champions, and 8 high school All-Americans. Just a few of his many years of service to the sport include the following: Coach of the USA Jets and their trip to the Soviet Union; Head Coach for for California National Teams; Coach of Sierra Storm Wrestling Club; Coach of Iron Eagles Wrestling Club; Coach of Southland Wrestling Club Team to Mexico; hosted California USA Wrestling Cadet State Championships; President of Orange County Wrestling Coaches Association; and, Member of the CIF State Advisory Committee.
